The “CE” mark is a safety certification and is regarded as a passport for manufacturers to open and enter the European market. CE stands for CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE. All products,( plush toy) with the “CE” mark can be sold in the EU member states, without meeting the requirements of each member state, thus realizing the free circulation of goods within the EU member states.

“CE” is the abbreviation of French COMMUNATE EUROPEIA. The English meaning is EUROPEAN CONFORMITY, which is the European community. In fact, CE is the abbreviation of the phrase “European Community” in many languages of the European COmmunity. The original English phrase EUROPEAN COMMUNITY was abbreviated as EC, later because the European Community is COMMUNATE EUROPEIA in French, COMUNITA RUTOPEA in Italian, COMUNIDADE EUROPEIA in Portuguese, COMUNIDADE EUROPE in Spanish, etc., the CE is changed to CE.

Is the “CE” mark necessary for stuffed toy in EU?

 

YES! In the EU marketing, the “CE” mark is a compulsory certification mark. Whether it is a product produced bt an EU enterprise or produced by in another country if you want to circulate freely on the EU market. You must affix the “CE” mark to indicate the product it complies with the basic requirements of the EU Directive “New Methods of Technical Coordination and Standardization”. This is a mandatory requirement of EU law on plush toy products.

So If you want to custom plush toy and sell the stuffed toy in EU, must be CE certified!
